Connect

Although the contents of a site ideally appear in the browsers in just a few seconds, this is the result of a complex process that has several distinct steps.

Connecting is the second step in this process. It comes after the DNS Lookup.

During this phase the browser of your visitors connects to the server of your website and synchronize the communication protocols. This stage is followed by the data transfer.

If you’d like to know how much time it took for your server to establish connections during our measurements, click on the Performance tab of our application and turn off every element except for Connect.

You can find additional information about the steps that are needed to display your contents in this blog post and in our articles about DNS Lookup, Data transfer, Request and Content Generation.
